111208 - Jesus was a good looking man

[this particular blog post is subject to change] As part of an ongoing effort to prove that Jesus was hot. I haven't done any research .. this is purely me vomiting my thoughts onto my blog.

Most of the time, I see the world the way I want to see it. When the world as I see it turns out to be a world completely different, I wonder why. Jesus' physical appearance, his human form, was never something I thought about until the other day. I conclude that he was a good looking being. Very good looking. These, collectively, are reasons for why Jesus HAD to be good looking fellow:

1. He said crazy things. Jesus had some insane ideas about reforming the Jewish religion. Here he was, standing in his robe, on a mound: "I'm Jesus and everything you knew about yourself, everything you've been doing, everything your family has known for centuries, is, well, wrong. Hey, here's an idea! Let's try something new and different." People took their traditions to heart, let alone their religious traditions. If they're going to change something, there better be a damn good reason for change. Reform was difficult. They knew what they knew and they weren't going to complicate things just to appease one man. If he were good looking, people would be a little more sympathetic to his cause. There was probably the general feeling that: "He's crazy, but God didn't make him too ugly for us to look at while he preached this so said crazy." If Jesus was ugly and said crazy things, he'd just be another ugly guy, preaching crazy things.

2. He hung out with ugly people. Jesus was always talking with the untouchables, the down-trodden, the sad and lowly. If he was not good looking, Jesus would just be another ugly person in the sea of ugly people. Visually, it would be ineffective for him to stand out to the crowds.

3. He was curing the sickly. Jesus was going around doing miracles here and there, curing people, the usual. If you were the mother of a dying child, and you heard of this crazy ugly person going around touching little children would you let him come touch your child? If Jesus had a nice smile and looked inviting and not out of the ordinary, that would better help his cause of curing the sick. If he were good looking, smelled nice and had the friendliest smile ever, you would invite him into your home with less reservation. If Jesus were ugly, the public may have thought: "If God sent this man to cure the sickly, why is this man deformed, ugly, uninviting? He can't cure himself?" It is less believable if someone who does not seem healthy himself, can bring those sickly to health. If Jesus were good looking, the public may have thought: "God sent us someone who says he can cure the sick and he himself looks very clean and healthy! Let us welcome this good looking man into our home to cure our sick children."

4. He was touching our food. I guess this argument has more to do with Jesus' cleanliness than anything and probably is more relevant to present time. They probably did not care back then who touched their food, but today, I know I would not want someone who doesn't wash their hands at all to make my food and serve it to me.

This is not meant to come across as shallow. I just simply believe that for Jesus to spread God's word as swiftly and effectively as he did, he would have had to be good looking. People needed to be drawn to him, rich and poor, ugly and pretty people alike.
